Caring for a relative or friend can be very difficult at times. Young carers especially have a lot of demands in their lives. Caring for someone may make things like going to school, doing homework and seeing friends difficult. You may need further support or like to know more about what’s available to you.
Under the Children and Families Act 2014, Suffolk County Council have a Statutory responsibility to carry out an assessment of your needs. This assessment identifies your needs as a Young Carer, the impact of these needs on your wellbeing and what you would like to achieve on a day to day basis and in the future. This might include information, advice and guidance, courses, someone to talk to, meeting other young carers. The assessment will support the local authority in determining the services, if any, that should be provided. Suffolk County Council commission Suffolk Family Carers to carry out Young Carers Needs assessments on their behalf.
