Sea-Change Sailing Trust

Overview of our organisation and the services we offer

We use sailing residentially aboard a taditional vessel to engage young people and vulnerable adults in positve activities to improve self-esteem, team work, healthy eating and lifestyle.

We work with groups of up to twelve people including suport workers who understand the needs of the clients to thrive and who work with our staff to facilitate this. Normally we leave Maldon on a Monday and return on a Friday, and live and work together aboard. This gives people a chance to have fun together, test the boundaries of what they can achieve, and learn about sailing, nature and the waterside community.

We also accept referrals for individuals to our Sailability weeks, usually with accompanying support unless we know the client from an accompanied trip. We encourage people to return and share what they have learnt with others. Bursaries are available to help with costs.

The sort of activities we offer

Learning to sail, watch-keeping as part of a team, knot-tying, working aloft, rowing, navigation, visiting places of interest for beaches, wildlife and local history.

Helping to cook and clean to the menu agreed by the group and usually brought with them except on open Sailability weeks.
