Befriending Scheme, The

Our relationship with AU

Hi,

My name is Will Ginno and I am the Young Persons' Co-ordinator for The Befriending Scheme. I work with people aged 16-25 with learning disabilities and mental health difficulties.

At the Befriending Scheme we offer services for people in Suffolk who feel vulnerable, isolated and in need of some support. We have a befriending service where we match young people with volunteers, giving them the opportunity to go and out and do fun, social things like bowling, cinema or going out for a tea or coffee somewhere.

In addition to this we run weekly 'Hub' groups across Suffolk, where you or someone you know can go and do fun activities like music, arts and crafts and games in a safe and friendly setting. In some areas we have monthly evening and Saturday groups where people can go and do a similar thing.

In Felixstowe we run a monthly evening group, where we have discos, themed nights, games and activities and other enjoyable events.

If you are interested in any of the services that we offer, please feel free to give me a call on 07818343739, or our office number which is 01787 371333. Alternatively drop me an email at will.ginno@thebefriendingscheme.org.uk and I will be only to happy to speak to you.

Overview of our organisation and the services we offer

The Befriending Scheme provides friendship and learning opportunities for adults from vulnerable groups, including those with mental health needs and older people, as well as our existing members with learning disabilities. We support vulnerable people, aged 16 and over, in ways which promote independence, personal development and community participation.
