Friends Community Farm is a small care farm run by The Befriending Scheme. It is based in the beautiful village of Assington, near Sudbury. The Farm provides a safe outdoor environment offering ample opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, develop friendships and gain independence.

The farm offers regular weekly sessions to vulnerable young people and adults aged 16 plus. We can also offer educational sessions to a younger audience with the opportunity to gain some accreditation through Asdan.

Social farming offers guided social interaction alongside meaningful and purposeful activities. Individuals will learn how to care for livestock, plant and harvest fruits and vegetables and will be able to participate in a range of conservation activities. The sessions we offer can benefit people in many different ways:

  • Enhancing self esteem
  • Improving self confidence
  • A chance to meet new people and build friendships
  • Build emotional resilience
  • Improving physical fitness and general wellbeing
  • A sense of belonging, feeling part of something
  • Increased independence

For those considering joining our service on a regular basis we offer a free 2 hour taster session, just give us a call to book!

We are not able to provide 1 to 1 support but you are welcome to bring along your own support worker / carer.

We can also offer one off visits to schools and other local community groups. These visits can be tailored to meet specific learning outcomes.

Sessions run from 10am to 3pm (Currently sessions are 10am – 2pm to allow time for added cleaning and preparation due to the Covid-19 virus)

To discuss our services, rates and availability please call the Farm Manager Ashley Richardson on 07936 359132.
